MTS, Ericsson build Russia’s 1st 5G-ready net for Polymetal mine

MOSCOW, Sep 27 (PRIME) -- Mobile operator MTS in partnership with Swedish telecom equipment maker Ericsson has built and launched Russia’s first commercial allocated network (Private Network) LTE/5G-ready for gold and silver producer Polymetal at the Nezhdaninskoye gold deposit in the republic of Yakutia, MTS said on Monday.

“The system has already proved its effectiveness and is ready to smoothly switch to the stage of introduction of innovative technologies in production. The Private LTE/5G-ready network will hugely speed up transfer of big volumes of data, cut expenses on maintenance of the technological network,” Alexander Laguta, head of the IT and connection department at the Yakutia branch of Polymetal, said.

The project used the Ericsson Dedicated Networks solution, complying with the 3GPP standards.
